My continued return to these roads over the last few years is reminiscent of the inner journey back home – to self.

What began as a study of the light, its dappled patterns spilling through the trees, has become visual diary of my growing understanding of what it means to live in this beautiful place on Bundjalung country.

Roads symbolise inhabitancy and form a division between the wild and the settled. Watching nature reclaim the roads time after time, reminds me of the essential truth of the primal. We are a part of the landscape and when I paint, I am changed through the memories of my travels though it.
